When HOKKY approached us to launch their new line of sunglasses, they weren’t looking for a polished corporate campaign. They were building a brand for skaters, cyclists, creatives and adventurers — the kinds of people who carve their own path and don’t need permission to be themselves.
So that’s exactly what we set out to capture.
At FanCast Productions, we didn’t just produce videos. We helped shape a brand world — one that moves, expresses and speaks directly to a Gen Z and Millennial audience hungry for authenticity.
Why “Go Your Own Way”?
This wasn’t just a catchy title. “Go Your Own Way” is a brand statement. It reflects HOKKY’s core values — individuality, movement and freedom — all filtered through a design lens that blends performance with streetwear energy.
These are sunglasses for people who live in motion. Whether they’re weaving through Melbourne laneways on a bike or cruising through the city on a board, the message is simple: do it your way.
Turning Strategy into Storytelling
The brief was clear — make it real. No glossy models. No fake settings. Just real people, in real environments, doing what they love.
From there we developed a visual and content strategy to match. Lifestyle shots in laneways, skateparks and urban café corners. Editorial-style imagery with candid in-the-moment movement. UGC-style videos featuring micro-creators and random try-ons in the street. A tone that’s confident, stylish and completely unforced.
Everything was captured with a slightly offbeat aesthetic — deliberate imperfections, raw lighting, handheld energy — to reflect a culture that values character over polish.
A Campaign Built for Gen Z and Millennials
We knew the target audience wasn’t interested in being sold to. They wanted to see themselves — people who actually live this lifestyle. Skaters. Creatives. Cyclists. All shot in recognisable Melbourne locations that feel familiar without being cliché.
The tone speaks like someone who knows what’s cool but doesn’t have to shout about it. And the video work supports that — vertical, real and made for social feeds, not boardrooms.
Trust Through Try-Ons
One of our favourite directions in this campaign is the UGC approach. We filmed people reacting to the product on the spot. No scripts. No rehearsals. Just real responses from people who look and live like the HOKKY audience — talking about comfort, style, lens tint and how they’d wear them.
It’s a layer of trust and relatability that no product page can match.
FanCast’s Role
This isn’t about ticking off deliverables. It’s about collaborating with HOKKY to build a campaign that reflects who they are and what their audience actually cares about. From creative strategy to on-location shoots across Melbourne, we worked closely with their team to make sure every frame, caption and vibe stayed true.
Creative strategy isn’t just planning — it’s active storytelling, aligned from start to finish.
