Most businesses approach video the same way: one idea, one shoot, one video. It works, but it’s slow, expensive, and hard to sustain. There’s a better way.
We recently wrapped our third shoot with Willed, an Australian legal tech company that helps people create legally binding wills online. In a single 5-hour session at their Elsternwick offices, we captured over 70 videos — each one answering a real customer question about wills, estates, and end-of-life planning.
That’s not a typo. One shoot. Seventy-plus videos. Months of content across multiple platforms, all from a single production day.
What Is Batch Video Production?
Batch video production means recording a large volume of content in one planned session instead of spreading it across weeks or months of individual shoots. You book one day, set up once, and walk away with a library of ready-to-publish content.
For Willed, we filmed their in-house experts Kevin and James answering real questions their customers ask every day. Topics ranged from how to appoint an executor to what happens if you die without a will. Each answer was kept to under two minutes — long enough to be genuinely useful, short enough to hold attention.
The result is a complete video knowledge base that builds trust, answers objections, and drives organic search traffic around the clock.
What Came Out of One Shoot
Every video we captured for Willed serves multiple platforms and purposes. Here’s what a single recording turns into:
YouTube SEO content. Each answer becomes its own searchable YouTube video. When someone Googles “do I need a will if I’m under 30” or “how much does a will cost in Australia,” Willed’s video can appear in the results. Over time, 70+ videos create a powerful SEO footprint that compounds month after month.
Vertical social cuts. Every video is also exported as a 9:16 vertical cut, ready to post on LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. That means Willed’s team can maintain a consistent posting schedule for months without needing another shoot.
Website trust content. The same videos embed directly onto Willed’s website as a knowledge base. When a potential customer lands on the site with questions, the answers are already there — delivered by a real person, on camera, with authority. That builds trust faster than any FAQ page.
Why This Model Works
The traditional approach to business video is project-based. You come up with an idea, brief a production company, schedule a shoot, film one or two videos, edit them, and publish. Repeat next month. It’s time-consuming for everyone involved, and the cost-per-video stays high.
Batch production flips that equation. When you plan the content in advance and shoot everything in one session, several things happen. Setup and pack-down only happen once instead of repeatedly. Your talent gets into a rhythm and improves as the day goes on. The cost per video drops dramatically compared to individual shoots. And you walk away with enough content to feed your marketing for months.
For Willed, this was their third time doing it with us. The process gets smoother every time because the format is dialled in, the team knows what to expect, and we can focus entirely on quality and efficiency.
The Production Setup
Getting 70+ videos in five hours requires a system, not just a camera. Here’s what we used for the Willed shoot:
We ran a two-camera setup — the main camera at eye level for the primary angle, and a second camera at 45 degrees for cut-away options in the edit. Professional lighting kept things bright and approachable, with a key light up front and a fill light at 45 degrees to eliminate harsh shadows. Audio was captured via lavalier microphones for crystal-clear voice.
The talent sat on stools rather than chairs — it keeps posture upright and energy engaged. We coached them to lean slightly forward toward the camera, which creates a natural connection with the viewer. A producer asked each question off-camera, and if anyone stumbled, they simply paused and restarted the sentence. No stopping and starting the recording. No wasted time.
Every answer was framed to work in both 16:9 landscape for YouTube and 9:16 vertical for social media. That means no reframing in post — it’s built into the shoot from the start.
Is Batch Video Production Right for Your Business?
This approach works best when you have a clear content plan and subject matter expertise within your team. If your business regularly answers customer questions, explains how your product or service works, or shares industry knowledge, you already have the raw material for a batch shoot.
Industries where this model delivers especially strong results include professional services, health and wellness, finance, legal, SaaS, education, and any business where trust and authority drive conversions.
You don’t need to start with 70 videos. Even a session that produces 10 to 15 videos gives you weeks of content across YouTube, social media, and your website.
